2004 Concert

On May 29, 2004 Jimmy and the Coral Reefers performed at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas.  As a bonus, George Strait and Alan Jackson performed as well.  Alan Jackson took the stage at 5:00, and you guessed it, Jimmy came out to do "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."  Then about 7:15 or so, George Strait came on for his part of the concert.  In addition to doing "Stars On The Water," Jimmy came on stage to help out George on "All My Ex's Live In Texas.  Jimmy took the stage about nine o'clock and brought the house down.  All those Alan Jackson and George Strait fans, who had never heard of Jimmy hardly knew what to think.  Apparently, they had ever seen so many people behave like that in public all at the same time.  What!  Dancing at a concert?  Whose idea was that?  What's going on here?  What's that funny smell?  I guess some people just don't get out enough!

Because of the larger venue, the 2004 crowd was far bigger than usual.  Despite its size, the crowd was far more restrained than usual.  Maybe it was all the George Strait and Alan Jackson fans in the mix.  Or it could have been the constant patrolling of Irving's finest.  Whatever the reason, there were many isolated pockets of Parrothead Madness.  Including our own little group.  But don't take my word for it.  Check out the pictures of the parking lot madness for yourself.

And don't forget to check out the Fruitcakemobile.  While the paint job can't compare with the New Orleans Margaritaville Jeep, it is my own labor of love.  This year marked the 11th Buffett concert for the Fruitcakemobile.  It's been to nearly as many as I have!  In any event, enjoy the pictures.  And be sure to leave yourself enough time to enjoy the concert pictures.  They always remind me of how good it was, and how great it will be next time.  So if you have never yet had the experience, do yourself a favor and get out to see Jimmy live.  Accept no substitutes!
