Jimmy
Buffett
Jimmy Buffett is perhaps the greatest story teller since Will Rogers, or even Mark Twain. He follows a very simple formula of writing about what he knows and loves. Whether you are listening to his music, or reading his books, the passion of the artist shines through. From "A Pirate Looks At 40" to "A Pirate Looks At 50," the talent is undeniable as well as irresistible. If you think it is hard to decide which came first, the chicken or the egg; just try to decide which CD to listen to first! Would you prefer to listen to "Margaritaville" or to read "Tales From Margaritaville?" Talk about your tough choices!
All Parrotheads are familiar with the tunes and the lyrics. Many of us are also familiar with the books, children's stories, and, of course, The Parakeet Album. But did you also know that Jimmy's books have made the New York Time's best seller list for both fiction and non-fiction? To put that accomplishment in perspective, only 5 other authors in history have pulled off that act. That elite company includes Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, William Stryon, Irving Wallace and Dr. Suess. A literary dream team.
As a public service to the Parrotheads suffering from Bubba-withdrawal, as well as to our Buffett impaired friends out there, I have put together picture pages from the 2003 concert at the Smirnoff Music Centre in Dallas, the 2004 concert at Texas Stadium in Irving, and the 2006 concert back at Smirnoff again. They always send me off to that One Particular Harbour on the magical island of Margaritaville. Just one song and I'm on island time. If you have never yet had the experience, do yourself a favor and get out to see Jimmy live. Accept no substitutes!
